はじめてハービーを、
というか僕の人生ではじめて犬を
トリミングに連れて行った
はじめて過ぎて、
一体何が正しいのか見当がつかない
トリミングのお店に連れて行って、トリマーさんと簡単な挨拶を交わした後、妻とトリマーさんの間でサクサクとやり取りが進む
「今日はどんな感じにしますか？」
「ビジュアルよりも、清潔を重視してください」
「分かりました、ではお預かりします、大体2〜3時間くらいです」
「よろしくお願いします」
妻が全て話をまとめて、僕はそれを傍観していた
ハービーをトリマーさんに託してしまうと、妻と僕には2〜3時間の空白が生じた
その空き時間をどのように埋めたか、今では思い出せないが、たぶん昼ごはんを食べて、買い物を済ませたような気がする
これまで当たり前に過ごしていた妻と二人きりの時間に、懐かしさを覚えたのは記憶している
「ハービーいないのが変な感じするね」
「どんな風にカットされるかな」
「絡まってた毛が綺麗になるといいね」
「そもそもトリミングって何されるの？」
そんな会話をしながら過ごしていると、ハービーのトリミングが終了した連絡が入った
僕にとって人生初のお迎えなので、なんだか楽しみだった
（ここで車の運転すら妻に担わせる）
駐車スペースが混み合っていたので、僕は念のため車で待機して妻にハービーを引き取りに行ってもらった
（助手席に乗って、ただハービーを待つ）
不必要なダメ夫スタイルを貫いているのはさておき、妻に抱っこされながら戻ってきたハービーは間違いなく「清潔」だった
これである
ハービーには悪いが、車の中で爆笑してしまった

周囲から見たら虐待を疑われそうだ
もしくは大病を心配される
（たしかに病気ではあるが）
気持ちの分、長めに残された頭頂と尻尾の毛
それ以外は全て刈り上げられていた
トリマーさんは、保護団体御用達のとても信頼されている方だ
本当にハービーの毛と皮膚が良くない状態だったから、ここまで刈り取られたのだろう
あと、トリミングを終えて気がついたのが、ハービーの異様な細さだ
骨がだいぶ華奢なのは、散歩がほぼゼロだったのだろうか
指周辺は毛が禿げ赤々として、皮膚に異常があるのは明らかだった
ダメージを受けても、懸命に生きているハービーがとても可愛く見えて愛おしくなった
トリマーさんからも「とってもいい子にしてました」と褒められていた

Harvey's First Trimming
I took Harvey for the first time, or rather, I took my dog for the first time in my life to get a trim.
I have no idea what the right thing to do is because it's my first time.
After taking him to the trimming store and exchanging a greeting with the trimmer, the conversation between my wife and the trimmer proceeded smoothly
'How would you like it to look today?'
'please prioritize cleanliness over cuteness.
"Okay, I'll take care of it. It'll take about two to three hours.
Alright! thank you
My wife was taking care of everything, and I was watching from the sidelines.
Once we left Harvey with the trimmer, my wife and I had a couple of hours of free time.
I can't remember now how we filled the time, but we probably ate lunch and did some shopping.
And I remember feeling a sense of nostalgia for the time alone with my wife that I had taken for granted.
It seems strange that Harvey isn't here.
"I wonder how Harvey's going to get his hair cut.”
"I hope the tangled hair will be cleaned up."
"What's the trimming process anyway?"
As we were having these conversations, my wife received a call that Harvey’s trimming was finished.
I was kind of looking forward to it.
(Here I let my wife even drive the car.)
When we arrived at the trimming salon, the parking space was crowded, so I stayed in the car just in case and asked my wife to pick up Harvey.
(This time, I got in the passenger seat and just waited for Harvey.)
Aside from being unnecessarily bad husband style, Harvey was definitely "clean" when he came back in my wife's arms!
Here it is.
Sorry Harvey, but I laughed my ass off in the car.

People around me would suspect abuse.
Or they'll worry Harvey is very sick.
(Yes, he is actually sick.)
The hair on the top of his head and tail was left a little.
Everything else was trimmed.
The trimmer is a very trusted person who works for a dog rescue organization.
Harvey’s fur and skin were in really bad shape, so I guess that's why he was trimmed so much!
I also noticed that Harvey was very thin after the trimming.
His bones are very slender. I wonder if he had taken almost no walks.
The fur around his fingers was bald and red, and it was obvious that there was something wrong with his skin.
Despite the damage, Harvey was doing his best to stay alive. I proud of him!!
Even the trimmer praised him, saying, "He was a very good boy.
Harvey and my wife, good job!
