預かって翌日から、ハービーの体調がおかしくなりだす
数分間隔で「コヒュ、コヒュ」と小さく咽せた後、痰を切るような苦しそうな咳が出ていた
咳き込む間隔が短くなっているように見え、夜には少し胃液のようなモノを吐き出してしまった
吐き出した量も本当に少しだったので、とりあえず様子見として夜をやり過ごす
そして次の日、心配はさらに増すことになる
僕が仕事に出ていると、妻から連絡が来た
「ハービーが咳が止まらない、保護団体にいま病院を確認している」
「咳が少し落ち着いた、膝の上で寝ている」
小さかった咳は音が大きくなり、「グフッ！グフッ！」と止まらなくなってしまった
すぐに病院へ連れて行きたかったが、保護団体の指示のもとでしか動けない
病院を手配してくれたが、病院の休診日が重なり、この日と、もう1日は待機するしかなかった
およそ二日間、咳き込むハービーをただただ見守ることしかできなかった
本当に一日中咳き込んでいたので、夜もあまり眠れなかった
ハービーと妻は、仮眠すら取れてなかったと思う
ハービーは咳で疲れてちょっと眠って、
妻はハービーが眠っている間だけ目をつぶった
お前が妻と交代しろ！と思うだろう
この状況で代わったとて、妻は寝れない
そして二日経ち、妻はハービーを連れて病院へ行った（僕はこの日連れ添えなかった）
獣医さんに診てもらって、団体の人にも励まされて、妻は不安だった気持ちが溢れて病室で泣いてしまったらしい
一緒に行けなくて本当にすまなかった
ハービーは薬をたくさん出されたけど、咳を落ち着けることができた
咳の原因はハッキリしなかった
喉が悪いわけじゃないらしい
もしかすると気管の近くにある軟骨が原因か、もしくはハービーは口の中がボロボロだから、そのせいかも、、、と説明されたそうだ
とにかく薬が効いて、その日の夜、ようやくハービーと妻は睡眠を取ることができたようだった
ハービーが来て4日目だった
Harvey's unexplained cough
The day after we took care of him,Harvey‘s health began to feel strange.
He had a small cough every few minutes, followed by a painful cough that sounded like he was cutting off phlegm.
The intervals between his coughs seemed to be getting shorter, and that night he coughed up a little bit of something that looked like gastric juice.
The amount he coughed up was really only a little, so we passed the night as a wait-and-see situation for now.
The next day, I was even more worried.
While I was at work, I received messages from my wife.
“Harvey can't stop coughing. I'm checking with the organization to see if there is a hospital.”
“Her cough has calmed down a little. He finally fell asleep on my lap.”
On the same day, his cough, which had been quiet, became louder and louder, and he started coughing, "Goof! Goof! we wanted to take him to the hospital immediately.
We wanted to take him to the hospital right away, but we could only move under the direction of the organization.
The organization arranged for a hospital, but the hospital was closed for the day, so we had to wait for this day and one more day.
For about two days, we could do nothing but watch over Harvey as he coughed and coughed.
He really was coughing all day long and could hardly sleep at night.
I don't think Harvey and my wife even took a nap.
Harvey was so tired from coughing that he slept a little and my wife only closed her eyes while Harvey slept.
You take your turn with my wife! you would think.
But she can't sleep even if you take her place.
Two days passed, and she took Harvey to the hospital. (I couldn't accompany her and Harvey that day).
After being examined by the vet and encouraged by the organization, my wife's anxiety overflowed and she cried in the hospital room.
I am so sorry I couldn't go with her and Harvey.
Harvey was given a lot of medications, but they were able to calm his cough.
The cause of the cough was not clear.
It was not a bad throat, apparently.
They explained that it could be cartilage near the small trachea, or that Harvey’s mouth is a bit ragged, so that could be the cause.
Anyway, the medicine seemed to help, and Harvey and his wife were finally able to get some sleep that night.
It was the fourth day after Harvey’s arrival.
